BBVA Spark joins Bit2Me’s 14 million round of funding

BBVA Spark and Bit2Me, the leading Spanish-speaking digital asset-backed company registered with the Bank of Spain, have just closed a 1 million euros financing deal. This debt deal joins the investment Bit2Me received from Investcorp, Telefónica Ventures, Stratminds and Emurgo in June.

With this funding from BBVA Spark, Bit2Me takes another step towards cryptocurrency adoption. This funding benefits from the support of the European Union and the European Investment Fund under the InvestEU Fund program.

This strategic move comes at a pivotal moment for the sector, characterized by a growing trust in exchanges that operate transparently and maintain clear tax headquarters. It is poised to catalyze Bit2Me’s operations, further solidifying its position as Spain’s premier cryptocurrency platform.

“This funding from a banking entity into a crypto company demonstrates that the adoption expected in 2024 will be across all levels,” Leif Ferreira, CEO and co-founder of Bit2Me, says.

According to Abel Peña, CSO of Bit2Me, cryptocurrency and DLT technology adoption is at a historic moment: “We are at an early adoption stage, but with the potential for global adoption as institutions and financial entities begin to use them widely.”
